When creating an ID card, aspects such as color, design and layout can sometimes take precedence over the most important element, the security. Without a card security feature, anyone with access to any ID card printer could make a convincing copy of your card.
All Magicard ID card printers have a built-in card security feature – HoloKote, which prints a secure watermark on the card’s surface. The Magicard 300, Magicard Rio Pro 360 and Magicard 600 offers the option of customizing this watermark to your organization’s unique logo or security design, tiled or stretched across the card.
What is a Holokote®?
HoloKote, patented by Ultra Electronics, is a secure watermark that is printed on to the card surface during the normal print cycle using standard consumables (ribbons and cards). The patented Magicard HoloKote® anti-forgery card protection eliminates the threat of fake IDs.
The HoloKote image is frosted into the clear overcoat application of the standard print process resulting in a watermark like layer that can be visually verified when the card is tilted in the light.
Your own logo as a secure watermark
With the Magicard 300, Magicard Rio Pro 360 and Magicard 600 ID card printer series, users can opt for Custom HoloKote – enabling the implementation of a personalized HoloKote watermark into the standard print process. This watermark could be an organization’s logo, or some other unique security design.
Activating your secure watermark
Like its predecessor, the Rio Pro 360 and 600 can print an anti-fraud customized watermark on every card. LYNK now enables the secure online delivery of bespoke HoloKote® watermarks via the printer driver interface. Where previously only one design was available per printer, now users can store up to ten.
Added security at no extra cost
This innovative security option is available by special order and the short lead time makes it possible for customers to start producing secure ID cards in far less time than is required by a custom holographic overlaminate solution, and at a fraction of the cost.
Layout Options
There are two layout options for the custom HoloKote, which can be seen below. The first is the STRETCH design, which is your logo or design stretched across the center of the card. The second layout design is TILE, which is your logo or design displayed multiple times across your card.
